Custom Shipping Container Modifications

Custom Shipping Containers Modified To Meet Your Specific Needs

There are many storage applications for shipping containers because of their strength, durability, and relatively easy maintenance. Irrigation equipment, high school track and field supplies, and more will be kept safe, secure, and dry. But at Container Stop, we decided to take it a step further.

Quite a few steps, actually. Our experienced staff of welders and other tradesmen turn new and used shipping containers into office, additional living space, and even a rooftop bar. Keeping the container integrity in mind, there is almost no limit to what we can do for you. Shipping container modifications include:

  • Personal Doors
  • Roll-Up Doors
  • Windows/Skylights
  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • HVAC/Vents

Personal Doors
What good is a storage container if you can’t get into it? Additionally, some container doors can be a little heavy and cumbersome for some of us to deal with. By adding a standard personal door, entering your container will be as easy as walking through the front door of your house.

You aren’t limited by the style of door, either. French doors, sliding glass doors, barn doors – if we can frame it, we can add it. Combining the industrial look of a shipping container with the elegant touch for French doors will definitely give your pool house an original and unique look.

Roll Up Doors
Have a need for a larger or more durable door? We can add roll-up doors in several different sizes, from four-feet to 12 feet wide. A roll-up door allows easy access to the container at the opposite end of the container doors. It could also act as the primary entrance if you prefer.

Roll-up doors make it easy to store your riding lawnmower, lawn tractor, and other landscaping tools. Add two doors to better organize your garden shed: one door for the big equipment, another for the hand-held equipment. ATVs, snowmobiles, and other “toys” will be easy to access.

Windows/Skylights
If you’re considering using one of our containers for something other than storage, such as an office, Container stop can add any number of windows to allow for natural light. A fan of nautical themes? We can even install porthole windows. Similar to the doors, if it can be framed, we can add it.

If windows don’t work with your configuration, skylights are an excellent alternative. For example, maybe you’ve requested shelving all along the sides of your container – it wouldn’t make sense to have a window installed. Skylights themselves come in a variety of styles, including tinted glass and the ability to open.

Electrical
All of that natural light is nice, but what if you’re working late? Container Stop can wire your container for interior as well as exterior lighting. If you plan on bringing electrical service to the container, we’ll prepare all of the lights, outlets, junction boxes, and panel for you to hook up to.
Plumbing
If you’re going to be at the job site 12 hours a day for months on end, why not be comfortable? Either as a stand-alone bathroom or as part of a larger office, Container Stop can install toilets, urinals, sinks, and even a shower if you want. If your site can handle plumbing, we’ll set up the inside. All you have to do is connect the service.
HVAC/Vents
Part of being comfortable is being able to control the temperature of your workspace. If your container will be used as an additional living space, the ability to warm things up at night or cool things down during the day is invaluable.

This means more than being able to plug in a fan. Container Stop will install an HVAC system into the container and provide the proper wiring to make sure it runs safely and securely. This might be a consideration if you need consistent temperatures for what you’re storing.

Even if you aren’t looking for something that heavy-duty, vents are a good idea for circulating air in the container. We can install turbine vents, louver vents, even exhaust vents if needed. If you’re going to use your container as a paint shop, a venting system is a must.

Our Box, Your Dream!

Don’t see a particular feature you want? Just ask! If there is a way to safely modify our containers to fit your needs, we’ll do it. In smaller containers, we’ve been able to remove an entire side and even combine multiple containers for larger storage space.

Our shipping containers can be made in any length from 10 to 45 feet. But one thing we can’t modify is the height of the shipping container. We offer two sizes of containers in that respect: the standard 8 ½ foot tall and the 9 ½ foot tall container, also known as the high cube.

For more information on personalizing your shipping container, contact us today. No matter if you’re using it as a wood shop or a little oasis away from the day-to-day grind, Container Stop has the exact container – and modifications – to give you exactly what you need.
